MICROSCOPY TRAVEL BURSARY
SULSA are offering a £250 travel bursary for Scottish researchers to travel to Ireland after the 2nd Joint Symposium of MSI & SMS conference in April 2022
Scope of Prize
On 6th – 8th April 2022 the Scottish Microscopy Group (SMS) will run their second joint symposium with the Microscopy Society of Ireland (MSI) in Galway Bay, Ireland. This event is now open for registration.
SULSA are offering a £250 travel bursary for Scottish researchers to travel to Ireland after the event. This funding aims to support researchers in their endeavours to build upon existing collaborations, forge new relationships, access facilities or present their work.
The funds can be used towards the following:
You can apply for up to £250 and we hope to award a minimum of 4 projects.
Eligibility and Conditions
- The applicant must have attended the 2nd Joint Symposium of MSI & SMS conference on 6th – 8th April 2022
- The applicant must be employed by a SULSA University and work within the Life Sciences
- This bursary is open to all levels (ECR and mid-career)
- The visit to Ireland must take place by the end of January 2023

Notification of Outcome
Successful applications will be notified by email in June 2022.
Payment of Funds
If successful, funds will be transferred to your lead Institution. Funds must be spent by the end of January 2023.
You must provide the SULSA administration with project updates and outcomes when requested for reporting purposes. If this project leads to a published article, or leverages grant funding, please contact the SULSA administration to make them aware.
