diagnostics and therapeutics

Diagnostics and novel therapeutics are becoming ever important as we seek to provide earlier interventions for medical conditions. The process of translating cutting edge research into clinical settings is often seen as a barrier to bringing innovation to life and thus, this strategic group will focus on the translation of research to improve patient care.

This Strategic Group is sponsored by Precision Medicine Scotland

SULSA's Strategic Groups

SULSA’s Strategic Groups cover three key areas of strategic importance which have been directed by Scottish Government and funding agencies priorities. They are:

  • Diagnostics and Therapeutics
  • Environment, Bioeconomy and Sustainability
  • Infectious Disease

These Strategic Groups are formed of senior academics with valued input from our early career researchers. They allow SULSA member universities to respond collaboratively to large multidisciplinary funding bids and drive multidisciplinary knowledge exchange.

Strategic groups will be changed every three years and will be inclusive of humanplantanimal, and microbe researchers.

Strategic Group Overview

Diagnostics and novel therapeutics are becoming ever important as we seek to provide earlier interventions for medical conditions. The process of translating cutting edge research into clinical settings is often seen as a barrier to bringing innovation to life and thus, this strategic group will focus on the translation of research to improve patient care.

For the purposes of this group, novel therapeutics are any drug or drug-like molecule, including cell and gene therapies, which are novel in structure or delivery to prevent, treat, or relieve symptoms of a disease or condition.
